1) Who am I?
My name is Karl
2) Where am I from?
Grew up in Montana. Live near San Francisco, CA
3) What do I do for a living?
Technical Trainer for a large biotechnology company.
4) How long have I been photographing?
Since I was 10 (1979). I started
developing and making prints in college, but did not do much darkroom work for
the next 10 years. In 2002, I built a darkroom and have used it ever since.
5) How often I usually use artificial light when photographing?
I did a little studio work in college, but now use natural light. Since I started shooting black and white and photographing artistic nudes, I have experimented with lighting. I still need to learn a lot about it and appreciate all the help I can get!
I have a Nikon 35mm with a variety
of lenses, a Hasselblad with 80mm and 250mm lenses, and a Nikon Coolpix 5700.
I use all three a lot. They each have great characteristics that make them uniquely
perfect for a shoot.
During the 1990's, I mainly photographed airplanes. Here
is a link to a site I built for practice for a dreamweaver class. It is
my aviation stuff.
I am exploring with studio photography of people (portrait and artistic nudes),
and still life. I want to learn about dynamic lighting, exposure control, and
other techniques. One thing I am also excited about is the technique "Painting
with Light."
