Welcome to The photo workshop!!!!

This mail address will go away in a month or so when the workshop closes down. None of this material will ever be used for spamming or marketing or whatever. The existence of the list is just a convenience so we can all communicate easily and not have to remember eachother's email addresses. I could have used some kind of cool-o web-based forum thingum but I think that'd be overkill for what we're doing. ;)

Here's some basics and ground-rules...

First off, this is an experiment. Let's be informal, interactive, and feel free to make suggestions at any time.

Second, since we're here, what we're trying to do is learn. That means that we need to keep our ears and minds open. Don't hesitate to politely jump in and make a suggestion to anyone, at any time. If someone makes a suggestion, remember that they
took the time to think about whatever it was they suggested and they might have a useful idea...

Third, I am not a teacher - In this workshop I will be trying to act more as a "guide" than an instructor. By "instructor" I mean the classical sense of someone who tells you what to do. I am going to try to set up a guided framework for some discussion and assignments that will hopefully stimulate some discussion and learning. If we do this right we'll all learn something cool. :)

Fouth, We're not in a hurry. I am a busy guy and I know some of you are, too. I'm going to try to keep things moving along but this is going to be a project that will move on the order of "something new every week or so" I don't expect this is going to be a
highly interactive thing. We'll do assignments and post Emails and I will take the results and turn them into web pages for
future exploration. I will also host the images that we produce as we go forward. Maybe once this is over someone else will
be able to go back and learn from us. All this will take time, so be patient with me and be patient with eachother.

If you don't want images or comments you make recorded, please specify that they are "off the record" or later on let me know
and I'll take them out of the archive. I will also remove Email addresses from the archive so your address doesn't go into
the spam-bots. I haven't set the web pages for this up, yet, but will do so as the content starts to come in.

Feel free to ask me questions (mjr@ranum.com) or just ask them of the list if you want broader discussion.

SO! That's the basics!!

Send a brief Email to the list in it, please answer the following questions:
1) Who am I?
2) Where am I from?
3) What do I do for a living?
4) How long have I been photographing?
5) How often I usually use artificial light when photographing?
6) Anything else you want to say about yourself and photography
